An extensive worldwide hotel database in a modern web application
THE CHALLENGE
TOPHOTELPROJECTS manages information about global hotel projects and chains. The existing application and the connected backend system as well as the underlying architecture should be completely redesigned and developed in order to meet the quality requirements and sustainably support the company's growth strategy.
WHAT WE DID
- Replacement of the heterogeneous system landscape
- Future-oriented architecture
- Redesign with a focus on high usability
- An innovative search based on Elasticsearch
Replacing the old system
Zweitag was responsible for the successful, complete replacement of the old systems and the development of a new, integrated platform based on modern and flexible web technologies, as well as a visual and functional revision of the user interface.
Solution and implementation
- Best-in-class data management
- innovative expert search
- modern design
- intuitive usability
Easy and efficient access to 10,000 data sets
In order to enable a high level of usability, large parts of the application are kept dynamic. In this way, data is reloaded or saved asynchronously.
We selected AngularJS, among others, as the technology for this purpose.
The platform is used by a wide variety of companies, for each of which different construction phases and criteria are relevant. A personalized search is therefore necessary.
We have designed the search in such a way that the user can easily and quickly dive deep into the data volumes using a wide range of search criteria and filters — without the cumbersome of classic expert search masks with large input forms. The tailor-made search bar with expandable criteria is always at hand for the user as a powerful tool.
ELASTICSEARCH based on LUCENE is used for the technical implementation of the search.
Complex data structure, well organized
In addition to presenting the hotel chains and associated hotels, contacts in various areas of hotel projects and hotel chains are of particular interest to users. Contact persons include, for example, the companies involved as architects or the construction companies and their employees with extensive contact options — including LinkedIn profiles.
Such a data structure must be well-structured and efficiently prepared for the user.
Interactive maps
In order to also ensure a geographical overview of the projects (hotels and hotel chains), various interactive map displays are used within the platform.
These support the user in their work and provide a good visual overview of the data.
When looking for the right construction projects, searching within specific continents, regions, countries or cities plays an important role. By visualizing all projects within interactive maps, the application supports the user in their research.
For example, when searching, the projects found are displayed on a map, which initially groups the projects regionally. If you navigate to a cluster within the map, the projects are further broken down. Specific project details can also be retrieved directly within the map at any time.
Customer relationship management
To support sales and customer relationship management (CRM), a tailor-made customer management and customer feedback system was integrated directly into the platform.
Customer Lifecycle Management: Partially automated customer classification, recording of all customer interactions, management of tasks and responsibilities
License and contract management: Flexible license management (customer-specific adjustment of standard packages), management of demo accesses, access restriction at data level
Customer feedback and analytics: Support function for user questions, evaluation of data quality, evaluation of application-specific key figures
